"Misfit characters on their misadventures..."
I am a screenwriter and author whose characters are often flawed in a way that blinds them to the reality that surrounds them...characters who feel like outcasts, struggling to belong, only to learn on their journey that they belonged all along.
Think of Dorothy learning that "there's no place like home." Jack Skellington lamenting "What have I done?"
This fixation of mine probably stems from being a life-long geek who never quite fit in, yet quietly blended in everywhere.
Folks my age have likened me to Jerry Seinfeld, whereas older folk compare me to Bob Newhart. I don't think I look like either. Comedy-wise, I think the comparisons stem from my searching out the funny in a frustrating world.
The universe has a wicked sense of humor, so long as we're open to it.
Born and stuck in the Chicago area, my goal is to re-plant myself on a 40-acre plot of desert someday. Until then, I raise my kids in typical Midwest fashion...patiently plotting.
